BIO
Aino Venna – Composer, Writer & Ritual-Based Artist
Aino Venna is a Helsinki-based composer and writer whose artistic practice weaves together sound, language, mythology, and embodied research. Their current work explores the intersections of neuroscience, Finno-Ugric cosmology, animistic philosophy, and non-linear knowledge systems through writing, composition, and audiovisual experimentation.
With a background in performance and sound art, Venna now focuses on creating ritual-inspired compositions and literary works that investigate the invisible structures shaping personal and collective experience. Their work is grounded in cyclical time, shadow exploration, and archaic forms of knowing—often engaging with practices such as medicine walks, somatic rituals and drum journeys.
Their multi-year project, Antagonista, unfolds across writing, music, and experimental animation. It examines creation and destruction as interdependent forces, and brings visibility to dark femininity, non-human narratives, and the transformative potential of collapse. Collaborating with animistic practitioners and sound designers, the project invites readers and listeners into a layered, sensory process of unlearning and reimagining.
